Latin America. Computer security threats are evolving, as cybercriminals use advanced manual piracy techniques, which is why it is crucial to be at the forefront and to anticipate the risks to act accurately.
Thanks to the analysis of the main attacks that had prominence in the 2018, ADALID, an expert company in Information Security, has visualized the new trends for this 2019, ranging from the increase of computer attacks both in companies and in homes, to predict a significant decrease in the use of illegal software. Axel Díaz, senior lawyer of ADALID, presents the following panorama related to information security for this year.
Number 1: increased use of smart devices associated with the Internet of Things (iot) and whose consequence is the increase in computer attacks on homes and businesses that use this system: currently the Internet of things, through an integrated system of devices electronic, is allowing both households and businesses, perform activities such as parental control, monitoring, monitoring of industrial processes, automation of tasks among others, in an agile, simple and dynamic for those who consume these products.
However, these devices, for the most part, as they are emerging technology, have many technological vulnerabilities and security breaches, which are exploited by cybercriminals and with this there will be an increase in crimes for the 2019, such as financial theft, personal data, industrial secrets, etc.
Number 2: Increase in crimes against moral integrity (slander and libel in social networks): for the year 2019 there will be a tendency to discharge, directly related to the criminal aggressions between the users of the different social networks in front of opinion topics and those that are they become politically incorrect, whose consequence will be the direct and indirect violation of fundamental rights to those affected and with it the increase of complaints for insult and slander as well as the loss of privacy and risk of physical harm to those affected in these media by the aggressions presented .
Number 3: Fake News overflow: if the 2018 was the year of false and cumbersome news for the media, the 2019 year will be the year in which this trend is consolidated and therefore there will be information security problems regarding its integrity, which can affect people, companies, civil society and even the State itself, lacking effective security controls against them.
Number 4: Retaliation against Facebook: with the passing of time, every day Facebook loses users around the world as a result of the security and privacy gaps presented in said social network, the 2019 will be the year in which the nations of the world take actions in against this, to ensure the privacy of its nationals and prevent their data from being exposed to third parties for economic and criminal purposes among others.
Number 5: Decrease in the use of illegal software: the 2019 year will be the first in computer history in which the decrease in the use of illegal software will be seen drastically, taking into account that within the computer community it is a trend of the last two years the purchase of computer programs and games ORIGINAL, which will generate more secure environments by not having to use Cracks, in the same way Software as a Service (SaaS - Software as a Service) will be preferred by the business market.
The privacy of information and more awareness of the use given to personal data, are crucial for this 2019 is not a victim of attacks and threats from cybercriminals, who increasingly use techniques difficult to detect.
